Causes and Effects of Climate Change<\/h2>\n

Humans\u2019 need for fossil fuels has exacerbated global climate change. Oil, gas, and Coal emissions contribute to 75% of the world\u2019s greenhouse gasses and almost 90% of carbon dioxide emissions. Greenhouse gasses blanket the earth and get trapped in by the sun\u2019s heat. All these factors together have led to global warming.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The earth is warming up at an unprecedented rate, and climate change is disrupting weather patterns and the balance of nature. The human race and all life on earth are at risk.<\/span><\/p>\n

What Causes Climate Change<\/h2>\n

Below are the three most significant factors contributing to climate change. We\u2019ve only highlighted four. There are other causes, namely food production, agriculture, and human overconsumption.<\/span><\/p>\n

Power Generation<\/h3>\n

Almost all of the countries in the world use fossil fuels to generate electricity. Burning oil, coal, and gas produces nitrous oxide and carbon dioxide, creating emissions that cover the earth and trap the sun\u2019s heat. Only a quarter of the world\u2019s electricity is generated by solar, wind, and other renewable resources (which emit limited pollutants or no greenhouse gasses.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mining, Construction, and Manufacturing<\/h3>\n

The mining, construction, and manufacturing industries play a role. Machines and melting plants run on gas, oil, and coal. Some plastics are manufactured from chemicals sourced from fossil fuels.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Deforestation<\/h3>\n

Humans cut down forests to create room for pastures and farms. It\u2019s estimated that 10 to 12 million hectares of forests are destroyed yearly. Cutting down trees limits the earth\u2019s ability to keep emissions out of the atmosphere.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Transporte<\/h3>\n

With the advent of the 20th century, we became greatly reliant on ships, trains, cars, planes, and trucks to transport ourselves and goods worldwide. Many vehicles are now being manufactured to use electricity. This is all good and well, but countries will still use coal, oil, and gasses to power electricity to charge these vehicles, which defeats the object.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
